White Orchard Starter Walkthrough

Arrival

1. After the prologue, Geralt and Vesemir reach White Orchard. Follow the main objective and deal with the ghouls near the road.
2. Check the Bestiary entry for ghouls — it explains which oil helps against them.
3. Head to the village and the inn to follow the main quest, Lilac and Gooseberries.

Notice boards

1. Read every note on White Orchard's notice boards.
2. Notes add points of interest to your map and can start contracts, including Devil by the Well.
3. Return to boards later; new notes can appear as you progress.

Early preparation checklist

• Make a manual save before leaving the village.
• Meditate to restore potion and bomb supplies once you've crafted them.
• Loot herbs as you travel — early alchemy recipes use common plants.
• Sell junk and unneeded gear to afford diagrams and repairs.
• Keep your steel sword for people and animals, silver for monsters.

Places of Power

Places of Power are glowing stones on the map. Touching one gives a temporary bonus tied to a Sign, and the first visit to each grants an ability point. Visit White Orchard's Places of Power before the griffin fight for extra points.

Contract: Devil by the Well

The only witcher contract in White Orchard. Take the note from the notice board, then investigate the Abandoned Village. Full steps are in the contract guide.

The Beast of White Orchard

The main quest leads to the garrison commander, who asks you to kill the griffin. Prepare with the hunter and herbalist before the fight. Full steps are in the quest guide.
