Equipment direction
Griffin School gear. Compare the bonuses on the pieces available at your level before replacing existing equipment.
Preparation checklist
- Tawny Owl, Petri’s Philter, and a healing option such as Swallow.
- Check toxicity before combining potions.
- Read the target’s Bestiary entry to decide which Signs to lean on.
For a reusable pre-contract routine, see Before You Hunt: A Preparation Checklist.
Combat steps
- Use Quen for protection while learning an enemy’s attacks.
- Select offensive and control Signs according to the enemy’s Bestiary entry.
- Reposition while stamina recovers.
- Use sword attacks when casting is unavailable rather than standing still.
Progression advice
Begin with a small selection of Signs you use regularly. Read their current upgrade descriptions and prerequisites before spending points. Add supporting stamina and Sign abilities as they become available.
Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- · Strong encounter control and protective options.
- · Flexible answers to different enemy types.
- · Rewards reading the Bestiary and planning ahead.
Limitations
Enemies respond differently to Signs. This is a flexible preparation guide, not a promise that one Sign defeats every opponent.
